Online, On-Demand Courses

On-demand knowledge, accessible from anywhere. Our digital courses provide fundamental skills while minimizing total investment.

Introductory Courses:

  • Newly Added  Introduction to the Pipeline Industry introduces learners to the pipeline industry.  Key topic areas include how liquids and gas pipelines work, the products they move, and stages of the pipeline lifecycle, while also covering basic terminology relevant to the industry.
  • Newly Added  Introduction to Pipeline Feasibility Studies introduces learners to the first stage of the pipeline lifecycle: feasibility.  The course covers key topic areas including the five basic elements of the feasibility study (the project outline, market feasibility, technical feasibility, economic feasibility, and recommendation options presented to decision-makers).
  • Newly Added  Introduction to Pipeline Planning moves to the second stage of the pipeline lifecycle: planning.  The course covers key topic areas including three interrelated areas of work within the planning stage (routing, regulatory review, and approvals process in jurisdictions with a stable regulatory regime and moderate level of regulatory oversight, and construction planning).
  • Newly Added  Introduction to Pipeline Design and Materials proceeds to the critical aspects of design and material selection for a pipeline once the route has been selected.  Key topic areas include pipeline system elements, hydraulic and mechanical designs, material selection, and quality management.
  • Newly Added  Introduction to Pipeline Operations continues in the pipeline lifecycle: operations.  The course covers key topic areas, including the role of the operations stage within the pipeline lifecycle and the two basic elements of a pipeline system necessary to operations: a pipeline (and its components) and facilities (such as compressor and pump stations, as well as meter stations).

Mechanical Damage Courses:

  • Newly Added  Mechanical Damage Prevention Techniques provides an overview of the execution processes while highlighting key considerations for pipeline construction inspection, agreements related to third-party crossings and encroachments, slabbing, maintenance and rehabilitaton of rights-of-way, and operational training.
  • Newly Added  Gouges and Arc Burns focuses on assessing gouges and arc burns in pipelines, outlining the importance of compliance with regulatory removal requirement.  Key topics include the assessment process, characterization, and non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques.
  • Newly Added  Dents, Wrinkles, and Bends outlines the significant threats these are to pipeline integrity.  As part of their threat management, this course describles how these anomolies are characterized and steps taken to assess and potential impact on pipeline integrity.
  • Newly Added  Mechanical Damage Threat Management examines the Threat management proces for mechanical damage and describes the general threat management processs.
